GOVERNANCE

“Scottish government – by common consent – is far too large. Whilst we agree in general terms that the potential of our economy is being dragged down by excessive public expenditure and on the fact that dependency upon others for our national financing is poisoning us we do however occasionally differ on some of the precise details about how that might be changed. We realise that the state cannot and should not do everything and we must learn lessons from other places including from the tiger economies of the east. If they are not learned, then gradual impoverishment will be the result.”
